<Arts Talk>Summer Treats: Ice Cream & Wine (1)
Hot summer is the season for ice cream, why not combine it with wine? Wine and ice cream pairing is not very easy, but it is not impossible. We have found some tips on how to match your favourite ice cream with your favourite wine.
Vanilla Ice Cream + Prosecco Sparkling Wine
Prosecco is the white grape variety in Italy, has a late-ripening period. Around mid-October, the peel will show a beautiful golden yellow colour with a high concentration of aromatic juice. The wine made with it has distinctive characteristics, with obvious aromas of pears, apples and other white fruits, with hints of white flowers and a refreshing aftertaste. Prosecco sparkling wine does not require long-term ageing in the bottle, which highlights the natural fruit flavour of the grapes.
Creamy Pecan Ice Cream + Chardonnay
Chardonnay is a very popular white grape variety. Its charm lies in its changeable style and wide adaptability, it has good performance in any climatic conditions. In the different producing areas, Chardonnay wines present a variety of different flavour characteristics, such as almonds, egg whites, fudge, butter, hazelnuts, etc. Chardonnay white wine fermented in oak barrels, usually malolactic fermentation (MLF), that has the flavours such as butter, cream and toast, accompanied by a little white bread, dried fruit, raisin and coconut aromas.
Chocolate Ice Cream + Red Grape Blend
Red Blend does not specifically refer to a certain grape variety, and there are no relevant provisions in wine laws and regulations to define the grape varieties that can be included in the blend. "Red grape blends" mostly appear on red wine labels that do not list the grape varieties in detail and generally refer to wines made by blending multiple red grape varieties, such as Bordeaux Red Blend and GSM (Bordeaux Red Blend). Grenache-Syrah-Mourvèdre) blends and so on.
