<Fossils Talk>The July Birthstone - Ruby

hero banner

Ruby is the birthstone of July, also known as the love stone. In the ancient West, its prestige went beyond diamonds. Since ancient times, it seems to have been the representative of "vitality" and "love", and its language of the gem is "passion", "pure love", "eternal life" and "beauty".

Ruby originated in India, and ancient records named it “Ratnaraj”, which means "king of gems". It has a bright, gorgeous luster and extremely high hardness, which is ranked second to diamonds. In India, it became a top piece of jewelry and people brought it to temples to secure themselves to be the emperors in the next life. This beautiful and mysterious gem even deserves its place in the Bible. The Europeans in the middle-ages believed that the ruby could give health, wisdom, wealth and perfection in love.

The word "ruby" comes from the Latin "ruber", which means "red". It is the color that represents love, so ruby is usually regarded as a piece of jewelry given by a passionate lover. Another association of ruby refers to its connection to the blood; thus, it is related to good health and is believed to enhance vitality. The fiery red symbolizes the inextinguishable flame, which is said to have the power to protect people from disasters, overcome various difficulties and achieve victory.

The radiance of the ruby radiates enthusiasm, vitality, loyalty and courage. Do the people around you born in July share these qualities?

Other Sharing of Collection: Mineral-Agate

The water flushing agate is mostly in the shape of pebble with good septicity.

Having been washed by the sea for months and years, this kind of agate feels smooth and soft just like the nephrite, not to mention the fine texture and bright colors. More than its natural beauty, it has good corrosion resistance and anti-friction. The Guanyin’s guise appearing on the agate makes it have more ornamental and collectable value.
